Senators Who Took Positive Action/s:

More Information:

This scorecard contains a selection of positive actions taken for Palestinian rights during the 118th Congress (2023-2024). If your Senator does not appear in the scorecard, it means that they did not support any of the selected actions.

S8 on S. Res. 504: This resolution asks the State Department for information regarding Israel’s indiscriminate bombing campaign in Gaza and for any credible information it has on potential violations of human rights committed by Israel while using US-provided weapons.

NOTE: This was a vote to kill (“table”) the resolution and prevent it from being debated, so in this case a “yes” vote was negative and a “no” vote was positive.

S. Res. 554: This resolution calls on the Biden administration to facilitate a dramatic increase of aid into Gaza to prevent starvation and disease.

620I (Sanders) 3.12.24: This letter urged President Biden  to enforce Section 620I of the Foreign Assistance Act by requiring Israel to stop obstructing the entry of aid into Gaza or halting US weapons shipments to Israel.

Leahy Law (Welch) 5.7.24: This letter criticized the Biden administration for its failure to apply the Leahy Laws to Israel.

Visa Waiver (Van Hollen) 9.8.23: This letter concluded that Israel was not in compliance with requirements that US citizens be treated equally under the Visa Waiver Program.

S.Amdt.1389 to S.Amdt.1388 to H.R.815: This amendment requires that weapons received by countries under the national security supplemental, including Israel, be used in accordance with US and international law, and requires the president to report on whether such countries were meeting that standard.

P-2 Designation (Casar) 6.20.24: This letter  urged the Biden administration to open up refugee status for Palestinians fleeing Gaza who are family members of US citizens or permanent residents.
